If your child has been bugging you this summer to take him or her to see the two latest installments of superhero flicks – Spiderman and Batman – you have no doubt either succumbed to their wishes or keep putting them off.
The bottom line is that bothfranchises have hauled in a boatload of money over the years, and these latest updates on the crime fighters is proving no different.
Either way, there is possibly a debate going on in your household as to which character is the better superhero. Is it the man who spins webs or the caped crusader? Is it the guy wearing the StylinClothesthat symbolize a spider on his chest or the one that highlights a bat?
While the only way to potentially settle such a debate would involve the two crime fighters taking on one another, you could also take a look at some of the differences between the two to help settle your argument.
Among the differences:
1. Spiderman can spin webs – While most women are not fans of spiders, imagine how cool it would be if your man could spin a web whenever he wanted to. It could serve as a highlight at family gatherings, office happy hours and while out in public at sporting events;
2. Batman has the batmobile – There is nothing much cooler if you are a guy than pulling up in the distinctive batmobile. With all the gadgetry that it has to offer, what mother would not sleep better in knowing that her daughter is safe with the caped crusader? Flip a switch here or there and you can instantly escape the bad guys, arrest them, or just plain have a little fun with them;
3. Spiderman is a swinger – When the term “swinger” is used, it is in a good way. There may be nothing cooler than seeing Spiderman swing from building to building in a crowded downtown. Just as Batman has the cool wheels to move around town rather flawlessly, it would be very easy on crowded city streets for Spiderman and his date to get from the restaurant to the movie theater with just a flick of his wrist. Given how expensive it is to park in some downtown venues on the weekends, this would also save Spiderman and his date on parking fees;
4. Batman has a cool sidekick – Even though he was more famous in the old television show than in the series of Batman movies, double dating with Batman and his junior partner in fighting crime, Robin, must be a thrill. Imagine the luck ladies that get to hang out with this pair of crime fighters on a Saturday night. Other guys would certainly keep their distances, while waiting for a table at the finest restaurants would almost be unheard of, especially in Gotham City;
5. Spiderman can hang with the best of them upside down – It isn’t every superhero that can kiss his girl while hanging upside down. In fact, how many superheroes do you know that can pull off this trick? While some women may find this a tad unnerving, others may find it quite attractive. Batman, meantime, can do amazing things, meantime, but hanging upside down while kissing a woman is not one of them. In fact, how many times have moviegoers seen Batman actually kissing a woman in the first place? The money seems to be on the fact that Peter Parker is just a tad cooler when it comes to his technique;
6. Batman has the cool digs – For those that date all the way back to the old TV show, stately Wayne Manor always seemed like it would be a cool place to hang out. Whether it was the lush grounds of the estate, having Alfred the butler to serve your every whim or sliding down those bat poles, what’s not to like about the place? While Spiderman can swing from venue to venue, Batman gets to go home at the end of a long day of crime fighting and kick back in the cool digs.
Whichever crime fighter wins out at the box office may not yet be known; one thing that is known is that both have a large fan base, something not even villains can deter.
