Working out when you are a mom can be a seriously hard task to accomplish. You have to balance the household duties, your kids, and possibly even school and/or work for yourself, too! Not to mention PTO meetings, ballet recitals, little league games, and so on. Where will you find the time to workout when all of that is going on? Do it while spending time with your kids!
Make chores a time to get fit. When you clean the house with your kids, make it a relay race, take stairs two at a time, and time yourselves to get your chores done quickly as you get your heart rate up. Taking out the trash can be a race. Vacuuming can be a good upper body workout. Lifting heavy loads of laundry can get your arms toned. When yo pick things off the floor, go into a squat or lunge to help tone your legs.
Play with your kids. In the afternoon, instead of plopping everyone down in front of the TV, go outside and run around. Chase your kids. Lift them (they’re getting heavy, huh?) and use their body weight as weights to get your arms in shape. When was the last time you turned a somersault? See if you can still do it, but be careful not to pull something.
Use smaller children like workout equipment when you play. Lift your babies in the air like an airplane and use this as a way to tone your arms every day. When you put them on their bellies for tummy time, do some pushups as you lie next to them.
Spend time wakling together. One way to get back in touch with your kids is to talk to them, so walk around the block or go to a walking trail with them and talk about your days as you walk. It’s a great way to bond with your kids and show them the importance of physical fitness all at once.
Join the team. If your kid is in little league, be a team parent. If they ar ein ballet, get out there and help them! This is a wonderful way to stay involved with extracurricular activities as you get in a fun workout. You will be right there with your kids, getting fit or staying in shape, and having fun all at the same time.
