For women that have periods, cramps, bloating and all the other pain that comes with the monthly event can be disruptive to every day life and make you feel moody, achy, and ill. You don’t have to just suffer, though.
There are remedies that can help ease the pain and discomfort of your period. The most common issues women report having during their periods is cramps and bloating. Did you know that women can actually gain 5 pounds of excess water weight before your period? Then add on the cramps, talk about uncomfortable! Today I am going to share with you ways to get relieve from cramps and bloating that are working for me.
First let’s talk about bloating! When you’re swollen and uncomfortable nothing feels right, everything feels tight and all you want to do is lay around because you don’t feel like going out! Your energy is zapped and your kids or spouse don’t seem to understand! Trust me I have been there and I think it’s safe to say almost every other female has too! Thankfully there is Diurex, which helps reduce periodic excess water weight gain, bloat, puffiness, and related discomforts.
Thankfully, Diurex® has five different formulas to choose from for the very different needs of women. I have been using Diurex for a couple of years now and trust me it makes a world of difference! That’s why millions of women trust Diurex as the Bloat Medicine® to relieve pre-menstrual and menstrual discomforts. I was recently sent a box of the Diurex® MAX and Diurex® ULTRA to try out and I loved them even more than the original water pill! The truth is I wish I had tried these sooner!

- Helps your clothes fit better – even during your period
- Caplets dissolve quickly and start to work immediately to provide dependable hour-after-hour relief

Diurex ULTRA contains an ingredient recognized by the FDA to be safe and effective (when used as directed). Contains the top-selling diuretic ingredient. Personally, both worked really well but I found that I actually liked the Ultra better because it contains caffeine so it not only helps with bloating it helps with the fatigue that often drains me! So I recommend everyone who is suffering from the monthly bloating to try the Diurex formula that you feel would work best for you! However, Like with everything in your medicine cabinet, please make sure to read and follow all label instructions before using.
Now let’s talk about CRAMPS!
There are multiple types of cramps to consider. One, there are the before cramps that most women say are little twinges of pain to let them know their period is approaching. These are a slight discomfort and not too disruptive or painful for most women. The next kind generally comes in the early days of your period and is intense, sharp pains that can make you catch your breath or even cry out in pain. The third come after you’ve started resting or toward the end of your period, and they are a pain that is a dull ache that spreads throughout your back, lower abdomen, and pelvis. They can even cause pain in your legs and ribs. To relieve these, use some of the following tips. If you have nausea, vomiting, or dizziness along with the pain, seek medical attention as something more serious might be happening.
Pick the proper protection. You don’t want period protection that makes you feel uncomfortable or worse. If certain brands of tampons make cramps worse, avoid them. If tampons in general are a pain, use pads.
Track your period. This will help you be prepared with the supplies you need to make it as easy and pain free as possible.
Stretch and exercise. Okay, when you’re in pain and miserable, stretches and exercise is the last thing on your mind, but doing these things can actually relieve your pain. Go for a light, quick walk and stretch before and after. This should help the pain in your back and lower abdomen. If you exercise regularly, you can help ward off the pain (and bloating) that comes with periods. Prevention is better than correction, after all.
Rest. When you feel cramps, lie down, and rub your stomach. Breathe deeply, relax, and elevate your legs. This can also help with any headaches you may have. Close your eyes and try to let the headache ease away. If it’s intense, try to darken the room. Light sensitivity can happen during your period and can make headaches worse. Headaches can lower your pain tolerance and make your cramps feel worse.
Warm bath or heating pad. Applying warmth to your back and abdomen can help relieve pain from cramps, and a warm compress to your forehead can alleviate headaches.
Drink plenty of water. When you feel bloated, you may not be thinking of drinking water, but you need to do just that. Dehydration can lead to muscle cramps, which is what you are trying to get rid of. Drinking water throughout the day while your period is visiting can help you avoid cramps.
Norethisteron- Norethisterone is another popular treatment for managing period pains by delaying your period. These pills can be used to delay your period, for example when going on vacation or any time you just can’t deal with your period cramps with other methods. However, they do need to be taken three days before you expect your period to begin and delay your period until three days after you have taken the last tablet.
