Oh my kids go to a private school and believe it or not they are awlays asking for parent volunteers like for everything and moneying you to death. For my sons Pre-k and Kindergated I was room mom, but when my last child came who is 15 months now I had to say no, it was just too much.

at charlottes school, they require volunteer hours and ill be honest, i hate it. I am so busy and she only goes 4 hours a day. I mean..i have to come in when she is part time? I know that sounds terrible.

Whether or not you lead the PTO, you have the right caring and actions that teachers love. You can say a lot with just your actions. I used to be a teacher and some of our PTO's were very active in such things as buying things the teachers needed for their classroom (Each teacher could turn in a "wish list"). Support for teachers is so vital and just a simple act of showing them you realize their importance to those children and appreciate what they do. (Leave brownies and strawberries in the break room) And if you can help in the classroom that would be wonderful...but they do understand that a lot of parents are working at a job that they can't reschedule. Just keep being a champion for your own child and all of your suggestions were right on.
