Having just moved into my own house, I’ve had a lot of different ideas running through my head for each room. One room that I’ve really been focusing on is my kids’ bedroom. I have been considering a lot of different ideas to conserve space. One idea I’ve been thinking about is the possibility of purchasing wood bunk beds. There are so many different styles to choose from and they would definitely conserve space. I like the traditional setup, but I am also finding myself liking some that are L-shaped. However, I think I really like the loft bed idea. That way, at first I can put the crib for my youngest underneath and later graduate him to a bed.
One thing I think about is my oldest rolling out of bed on the top bunk at this age. So, there is a possibility that I will wait until he is older and then buy a twin-over-twin bunk bed set. I really like how many different styles there are. There are some with storage and desks built right in. I think that’s really neat. Going this route, I really think I would choose an L-shaped set. As I’m considering bunk beds, I have decided I will buy a bunkie board for each bed. This will conserve space by not using a traditional box spring. They still provide the same support as a box spring, but without taking up too much room. This will make it so the top bunk isn’t so close to the ceiling as a box spring can add anywhere from five to nine inches.
After doing all of this research, it is a lot to think about. A lot of bunk beds do come with a rail so they wouldn’t fall out of bed. It’s just a matter on if I want to do this now or wait until they are a little older.
