I recently had the opportunity to try Organic Bistro’s Wild Alaskan Salmon Entrée, and Helen’s Kitchen Thai Yellow Curry. I’m not normally one who likes organic or healthy foods. Well, I like vegetables and fruit and they are healthy for you, but I don’t normally purchase organic meals or anything like that. Now that I’m getting older however, I am trying to eat a little healthier, so I decided to give these a try.
Let me start off with what I didn’t like. I didn’t like that I had to travel 50 miles in order to redeem my coupons for these products from a health food store. I live in a small town, and we do have a health food store but they don’t currently offer either of these products. I have asked them to see about carrying them in the future, and was told they would look into it. Hopefully they actually do, because I really did like the entrée’s.
I thought that I would be getting something made out of tofu, but I was pleasantly surprised. No tofu! Yippee! I don’t care what anyone says, you can’t make tofu taste like anything, and it still has a horrible texture. Anyway, the Organic Bistro entrée wasn’t tofu, so I was happy. The salmon cake was tasty; it wasn’t grainy as some salmon can be. It came with a decent size portion of vegetables (three bean medley), and confetti rice pilaf, also a decent size portion. It sells for about $6.00 (at least where I redeemed my coupon), so the price is reasonable in my opinion.
The Thai Yellow Curry from Helen’s Kitchen also came with decent size portions. Now, remember I stated that I didn’t like tofu, and you couldn’t make it taste like anything like people claim? Well, this entrée did have tofu steaks in it, however, that being said it wasn’t bad. Combined with the other ingredients (organic broccoli, red bell peppers and basmati rice) I really couldn’t complain about the tofu. Also, when I think of curry I think that the item is going to be spicy, well this was tasty but not overly spicy. I would eat this again. It sells for about $5.00 (at least where I redeemed my coupon), so the price is also reasonable in my opinion.
So, the consensus is, buy them and try them, I think you’ll like them. You won’t know if you like them unless you try them.
