I have always loved a great challenge. So, when the good folks at Dollar General asked me to team up with them for a room makeover, I knew this was going to be a perfect fit! The truth is when I moved in my first apartment, I actually furnished it with almost everything from Dollar General. I was just 19 plus being a brand-new mother it’s safe to say my budget was very small! However, I was able to find everything that I needed to make our new apartment a “home.” I think everyone was amazed to see how well our new place was put together and decorated since we were so young. People had a hard time believing that not only did I have everything that we needed it also looked very nice. The truth is it really didn’t look like what most people vision when they think of a teenager’s first place. I will never forget that apartment and the sense of pride it gave me to know that I DID IT ALL ON MY OWN.
So, I knew I could rock this challenge out of the ballpark. With only $30 to spend, I decided to decorate my oldest daughter’s bathroom. She recently moved downstairs so she now has her own bathroom! We have been so busy making sure she has the perfect bedroom; we hadn’t even started the bathroom yet. However, she had strict orders it had to match her bedroom, which is Zebra print and pink. So, I headed out Saturday to our local Dollar General to see what I could accomplish.I know most people think that $30 isn’t going to go far but you can really save on home essentials with Dollar General! I will be honest I wasn’t sure I could fully pull this together since my daughter’s demands left no room for error. That left me second-guessing if I should change the room choice and just redo my office or guest bathroom instead. Luckily, for me, I spotted the perfect shower curtain instantly and of course; it was zebra! This was my lucky day because it was the last one!
I knew that the rest of the challenge would be a breeze now. After I picked up the shower curtain, I noticed the bright pink towels that were the same color pink we used in her room! I then looked around to see what other stuff that I could find. In the clearance aisle, I stumbled across a wastebasket set in pink for only $4! Of course, it was also the last one so it is safe to say everything was falling in place! I finally picked up a few other black baskets for organizing purposes, pink flowers, vase, makeup bag, which as well happened to be pink and black and a few odds and ins. And since y’all know I love my coupons, I decided to check to see if there were any coupons on Dollargeneral.com. Sure enough, I came across this little gem!
This coupon saved me $13!! So, I actually came out under budget for all the bathroom stuff! Let’s be honest did you really doubt me? I am the queen of shopping on a budget! When we got home, my daughter was excited to see what I got! Thankfully, she approved of everything! So we headed downstairs to finish up the challenge. Here is the boring before shot: And here is the AFTER! We still have a few small things to do but overall I am proud of the results! Plus, Jasmine LOVES it so at the end of the day that’s all that really matters! The truth is you don’t have to spend tons of money to spruce up your home! Dollar General has everything that you need at prices that are affordable for everyone!
