I never understood how people could be so attached to their animals TILL we got our own. When I was working out of the home most of my patients was elderly. One of the first things I learned about them is how much they loved their animals. I had many of them tell me that their pets were their best friends or like their children. They would actually spend more money on their pets then themselves. Some would even cook daily just for their pets! I admit I used to think people who treated their pets like kids were NUTS! Now I am that person! Marley holds a special place in my heart. We treat him just like we would a human. I can’t find the words to actually describe it. I never thought any animal would touch me like he has. The truth is for many of us; our four-legged friends hold a unique place in the family dynamic.
Now that I see for myself firsthand how much joy a pet can bring in your life I understand. I also see why these pets, especially dogs were a big part of these elderly patients that lived alone. The unconditional love given by a dog can help people with illnesses or in need of certain therapy. The truth is Dogs are capable of lowering stress, anxiety and even blood pressure. I know that Marley is very protective of the kids. He always is able to sense if they are unhappy and always knows how to put a smile on their face. It’s amazing how much he is in tune with their feelings. However he is also very loud when he sees them doing something that could hurt them. He will bark non-stop when they are running around or play fighting with each other. I have watched him grab my daughter’s pant legs and pull her away from my son. This was his way of telling her to stop! I always joke that Marley is my 2nd pair of eyes!
The last couple of months I have been reading about how much people love their pets while being a part of this Cesar Blog Campaign. Cesar created the Share a Story and Share the Love initiative, a social media campaign to help support and spotlight therapy dog organizations, to ensure people in need continue to receive the powerful benefits of a dog’s unconditional love.
The Share a Story and Share the Love campaign encourages dog lovers to share the heartwarming stories of therapy dogs through their social media communities such as Facebook and Twitter. In return, Cesar will share the love with three therapy dog organizations through donations that help continue the services they provide to people in need. To learn more make sure to check out:
Now tell me all about your pet!! I would love to see pictures or stories about how your pet has changed your household!
I wrote this review while participating in an ambassador program by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Cesar and received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate
