Here lately I have really been considering about leasing or buying a new vehicle. With two teens in the house, it’s safe to say that they will be taking over our vehicles soon. Gosh! I can’t believe I just typed that! Plus I am looking for something bigger so we don’t have to take 2 separate cars when we want to go somewhere together with friends and family! I will be honest a mini van was looking like a good choice till we took the new 2015 Kia Sorento SX on our recent road trip! Thanks to Drive STI, we were able to fully test the 2015 Sorento SX for a full week and I must say we fell in love with it really fast!To be honest this was one of the best mid-size Suv’s we have traveled with. Why the Sorento you ask? With as much room or more than the other SUV’s in its class, the Sorento has room for everything…. and everybody! With the third row split seat you can configure the inside for more cargo or more people, with seating for up to 7. The second row also has split, fold down seats to accommodate any size gear.
Traveling with teens?
We all know they love their devices and everything will go smooth until the power runs low and dies. The Sorento has you covered there with USB charging capabilities to keep everyone powered up. No fighting over the radio station, no bickering in the back seat, just easy traveling saving everyone’s sanity. I think my kid’s loved this feature even more then we did!
Hands Free!
Controlling the radio is easy too with Kia’s UVO eServices infotainment system. Keep your hands on the wheel and use your voice to control not only the radio but make hands free calls as well. Also, you can look up directions on Google Maps and use the UVO eServices phone app to send those locations to your car for instant access to navigation. This is perfect for those summer road trips! No more searching on your phone or having to pull over and asking for directions!
Enjoy the view!
Let’s face it when the weather is nice there is nothing better than letting fresh, air and light in while you’re driving. The Sorento accomplishes this with a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade. When open it can bring the outside in not just for the front but also for the whole vehicle. Look at it as a convertible with enough room for the whole family. This was perfect fit to see the beautiful mountains in TN.
Easy cargo loading
We all know that loading and unloading on a long trip can be a pain. Save your back, arms and shoulders with the power litigate. Either from the key fob or a button on the vehicle itself, it’s easy to let the liftgate do the heavy lifting. And if you do happen to leave something on the ground behind your Sorento, the rear view display camera will show it to you on the UVO screen as soon as you shift into reverse. So no more checking and double-checking to make sure you got everything in. Your Kia will let you know.
More Info:
With a standard 3.3liter V6 engine, the SX model has enough get up and go to get you there easily. And with an average 25 highway miles per gallon, it will let you stay on the road more and stay out of the gas station. Of course, human pit stops can’t be controlled as easily. Overall, with the safety and convenience that the 2015 Kia Sorento SX offers, it is one of the better choices. Not only for the summer family road trip, but for an everyday family vehicle that can grow and change with the needs of everyone in mind. I have to admit I was sad to return it but happy to say that as of right now the 2015 Kia Sorento SX is on the top of my list!
My final thoughts:
What can I say; it was love at for sight! For the last couple of years the Kia Sorento has been on my list. So being able to spend a whole week with it made me realize this would be a perfect fit for our family. The Funny thing is I had a handful of people send me text asking what I thought about the Kia Sorento while we were on the trip! They couldn’t wait for the review..(No I won’t call out any names LOL) Come to find out they also have the Kia Sorento on their list so they wanted to hear all about it.
I told them I loved it! However, there were 2 issues that I really need to consider before making a purchase. That would be the cargo space when the 3rd row seats are up and the leg- room in the 3rd row. The 3rd row seat is perfect in the Sorento for smaller kids like Jada but it was a bit uncomfortable for the teens since they are taller. However this is pretty much standard in the smaller suv’’s anyways. But the truth is they will be driving soon so I doubt they will be with us that much anyways and they can just sit in the 2nd row.. Other then those 2 small complaints I couldn’t find anything else that would prevent me from purchasing. However, I am still going to test a mini van before making my purchase. (Yea the thought of a mini van makes my husband give me the side eye LOL)
I also loved all the new technology that we are now seeing in the new vehicles and the Kia Sorento has everything that I am looking for. Overall I am extremely impressed and would recommend everyone that is still on the fence to at least go test drive one!
